Workshop - National Cleanup Workshop 2023

September 5, 2023

I’m happy to be joining Kara Colton for another Energy Communities Alliance event. This time it is much closer to home!

I’ll be discussing Advanced Energy Development at DOE Sites and providing my perspective on site selection as an advanced reactor developer. I’m looking forward to being joined by Ingrid Kolb (DOE-EM), Ashley Saunders (UCOR), Todd Shrader (OCED), Mike Squires (UAMPS), and Stephanie Weir (NRIC). This should be a very interesting panel with lots of diverse perspectives. As always, Kara has brought together a great mix of folks from different backgrounds to explore deployment of nuclear energy in a format that is approachable and informative.

Workshop - NuSAW 2023

August 4, 2023

I am looking forward to representing X-energy and presenting an overview of the Xe-100 testing program at the Nuclear Scaling and Applications Workshop (NuSAW 2023) in Corvallis, OR.

The workshop will be held from August 1st to 3rd, 2023, and includes presentations from Jose Reyes (NuScale) and Dan Wachs (INL). Topics include scaling methodology, experiment design, data synthesis, application to code validation, and the outlook for scaled experimental testing for advanced reactors.

Conference - 2023 TIEC Annual Meeting

July 9, 2023

Tuesday at 1:30 PM I’ll be joining colleagues from the Department of Energy and Net Power to discuss New Advances in Sustainable, Dispatchable Generation at the Texas Industrial Energy Consumers Annual Meeting. I’m looking forward to sharing X-energy’s perspective on the emerging nuclear energy market for industrial energy needs and exploring how the Xe-100 can deliver clean, reliable power for industry developers that need to shift away from carbon fuels.

Workshop - Advanced Reactors and the Need for Advanced Control Systems

July 9, 2023

For months I’ve looked forward to my next chance to work with Rick Vilim and his team at Argonne National Laboratory. I’m very happy to say that I’ll be flying to Chicago this week to see Rick as well as many other key researchers in this very important area for a two-day technical workshop.

ANL is hosting this workshop for advanced reactor developers, university researchers, and national lab staff to discuss and explore advanced control system concepts as well as the path toward regulation of advanced control systems. I’ll be joining a panel discussion at 10:10 CST to represent X-energy and discuss industry needs for advanced control systems, including my work on the Xe-100. I’ll be joined by Daniel Althouse (TerraPower) as well as Rob Meyer (NuScale).
